Railway police dozes off, rifle and cartridges go missing

An Insas rifle and 20 cartridges belonging to a railway police official were allegedly stolen on board the Lucknow-Varanasi train today, while the officer dozed off, police said.
Constable Rajendra, posted in the Government Railway Police's (GRP) Jhanghai police outpost in Allahabad has complained that his Insas rifle along with 20 cartridges were stolen in the wee hours today while he was travelling in Lucknow-Varanasi train, Cant GRP Inspector Anil Rai said.
Rajendra and another constable were on escort duty in the train, he said, adding that the former had dozed off and found the ammunition missing when he woke up.
A case has been registered and investigation is on in the matter, Rai added.
