In Delhi, high humidity, which shot up to 98 per cent, caused discomfort to the residents even as cloudy conditions prevailed after overnight rains. The city received 13.4 mm of rainfall and the maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 35.3 and 25 degrees Celsius.
The other three metropolitan cities of Kolkata, Chennai and Mumbai recorded the maximum temperature at 34.7, 32.5 and 29.5 degree Celsius.
The weatherman said Goa is expected to witness incessant rains till July 1 as the southwest monsoon is "very active" over the state.
The state has witnessed 17 per cent excess rainfall compared to the annual average for this month, ramping up the total seasonal rainfall to 37 inches, Indian Meteorological Observatory said.
Parts of Uttar Pradesh received moderate to heavy rainfall with the water level rising in the major rivers of the state.
Heavy rainfal occurred at isolated places over western UP. Budhana, Jansath, Garoyha received 7 cm of rains followed by Hapur, Kaimganj 4 cm each, Jasrana, Atrauli, Rath, Meerut, Muzaffernagar 2 cm each and Jalaun, Kairana and Aligarh 1 cm each.
Rajasthan witnessed light to moderate rains over the last 24 hours that brought down the maximum temperature by several notches.
Rains in Punjab and Haryana brought relief to the residents reeling under humid conditions. In Haryana, Ambala, Hisar and Karnal received 11.1 mm, 0.2 mm and 8.8 mm of rains, respectively. In Punjab, Ludhiana gauged 70.2 mm and Patiala 18.5 mm of rainfall.
