Rains lashed the national capital this morning, bringing respite from sultry weather but leading to problems like water-logging and subsequent traffic snarls in various parts of the city.
After witnessing a rainless day yesterday, the city today received around 3.7 mm of rains, which started early in the morning.
According to Met Department, the minimum temperature was recorded a notch below normal at 24.9 degrees Celsius while the maximum is expected to be around 33 deg C.
The city is likely to receive more rains or thundershowers during the day and the skies will remain overcast.
While some parts of the city witnessed light showers, some areas especially east, central and south Delhi received heavy downpour.
According to Met Department, Lodhi Road area received 3 mm of rains, while Safdarjung recorded 3.7 mm rains.
The city witnessed 35.2 mm of rains between 8.30 am and 5.30 pm, Met department said.
Rains also brought with it the problem of traffic snarls as heavy showers reduced visibility and caused water-logging on major roads and intersections.
Traffic slowed down considerably on major arterial roads around Saket, Sangam Vihar, Lajpat Nagar and Chirag Dilli.
"Rains lashed almost all parts of the national capital. Heavy rains were witnessed in Noida and adjoining areas," the Met Official said.
