Babu Lal, who said he submitted his papers as a Congress candidate, and Rajesh Gupta, an Independent, filed their nominations for Kota (South) assembly bypoll.
A Congress spokesman, however, said "Babu Lal is not the party's authorised candidate. We have so far declared only two candidates -- Ramnarayan Gujjar from Nasirabad and Bhajan Lal Jatav from Weir constituencies."
"I have filed my nomination as a Congress candidate on my own and now it is for the party to decide my candidature," Lal told PTI.
However, no nominations have been filed so far for the remaining three assembly seats, he said.
The bypolls to Nasirabad, Weir, Kota (South) and Surajgarh assembly constituencies are slated for September 13.
The last date of filing nominations is August 27 and the scrutiny will take place the next day.
The last date of withdrawals is August 30.
