A day after demanding the removal of Lt Governor Najeeb Jung, BJP MP Udit Raj's office today sought to clarify it saying the statement was out of "angst" and not directed at against any "individual" but the system.
"It was just the angst of MP (Raj)...Don't look at it superficially. It is not meant against any individual person. It is about the removal of the system and how to get it going," Rekha Vohra, an associate of the MP told reporters.
In a hastily called press conference at the MP's residence, Vohra stressed that Raj's statement was against officials who have not been able to support developmental activity. Raj is out of station, she said.
"We need very effective bureaucracy for development on ground. Announce schemes on paper and implementing it on ground are different things and this is where the problem lies," she said.
In a statement, Raj also urged the Centre to apprise Delhi DM Sanjay Goel of his "role" alleging lack of support from the officer in developing a village in the Mundka area as an 'adarsh gram'.
The move comes days after the arrest of Raj's supporters for allegedly assaulting Goel in outer Delhi's Kanjhawla area. The MP had accused Delhi police of acting under pressure from bureaucrats.
