Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and a galaxy of ministers and political leaders paid homage to Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar on the occasion of his 126th birth anniversary today.
Various events and exhibitions were organised to mark the occasion. The state government also rolled out many pro-poor schemes.
"He (Ambedkar) sacrificed his life to put an end to social discrimination in the society. He fought for it and raised consciousness among all communities for their rights. He was a true inspiration," Raje said in a tweet.
Speaker Kailash Meghwal said that one needed to brainstorm on the proposals and objectives of the Constitution provided by the Dalit icon for the country to progress with social harmony.
He urged youths to learn from the thoughts, thinking and philosophy of Ambedkar and make everyone aware of their rights.
State Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, Arun Chaturvedi said it was a matter of pride that people like Ambedkar were born in this country.
He also announced a scholarship of Rs 25 lakh to research scholars who wish to study abroad.
State Higher Education Minister Kiran Maheswari and other ministers paid homage to the father of Indian Constitution at different events organised across the state.
State Congress Chief Sachin Pilot said Ambedkar was a visionary.
"Being a Dalit was not his identity. He had a comprehensive thought process. He took all communities together to bring parity among them. His contribution was not limited to making the Constitution...He tried to bring in the changes from his experiences. His contributions are not confined to any political party or community," he said at an event.
