During his visit to Garal gram panchayat in Kamrup (Metro) district, which has recently been declared as Open Defecation Free (ODF), he urged all members of the community to adopt the use of sanitary latrine, good methods for garbage disposal and ensure pure drinking water for a disease free society.
The Union MoS for Drinking water and Sanitation also congratulated the gram panchayat officials for attaining ODF status and also reviewed the status of some of the toilets constructed under Swachh Bharat Mission and interacted with members of the community.
He inspected a few water supply schemes and directed the authorities to rectify the defects found in the schemes immediately and also visited to some of the households and inspected the water supply and sanitary arrangements.
