Former Union Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss, arrested in connection with a hate speech case filed last year, was today released from jail after a Villupuram court granted conditional bail to him, officials said.
The PMK leader was arrested from his T Nagar residence here on May 3.
He was arrested on various charges including unlawful assembly, activities prejudicial to peace, violation of police rules and acting against general public during a PMK function in Mahabalipuram last year.
A court in Villupuram granted conditional bail to Ramadoss today.
However, Ramadoss needs to appear in the T Nagar police station until further orders, they said.
His father and PMK founder S Ramadoss is in jail after he was arrested on April 30 for failing to wind up a party function, which was blamed by Tamil Nadu government as the reason for Dalit violence in Villupuram district.
Stray incidents of violence, including torching and stoning of government, buses were reported from various parts of the state in the wake of their arrests.
