Ramoowalia announces installation of PCOs in jails
"BSNL PCOs would now be installed in the jails to facilitate interaction ofundertrials with their families," he said.
However, the data of their conversation would be kept on record to prevent misuse of this facility, he said.
He also said that violation of human rights in jail would not be tolerated, adding that irregularities in district prisons would invite penal action.
"Checking against irregularities has not only been done in the jails, but action against a few jailors as well as security staff has also been taken in the past. These two categories of officials, would now be held responsible for any irregularity in jails," Ramoowalia said.
