Build during the Dogra rule in the 18th century, Ramtalai and Dewan temples would get a major facelift to restore their pristine glory and attract tourists.
"Culturally and historically rich Jammu houses several such sites that once developed could attract tourists from all over the globe," Jammu and Kashmir's minister of state for tourism Priya Sethi said.
Sethi said that development works being being undertaken include waterproofing at Ramtalai temple located on a hillock near Tawi river.
Landscaping and construction of view points, tiled path, toilet block, store room, pantry and lighting work for illumination would be undertaken in a phased manner, she said adding that the completely damaged ancient 'Deodi' (entrance) would be restored.
She directed agencies to construct a canopy on the pond so that dry leaves do not fall in it and aesthetics of the temple maintained.
At Dewan Mandir, state BJP vice president Yudhvir Sethi said raising of platform is going to be taken up on priority and would ensure proper outflow of water.
Simultaneously entire drainage system would also be upgraded thereby leaving temple premises clean and beautiful, he said.
