Former Ranji Trophy player Kanwaljit Singh was today booked for allegedly assaulting the brother of a former Indian test cricketer N Shivlal Yadav.
Virendra Yadav filed a complaint before Begumpet police accusing Kanwaljit of assaulting him and using filthy language after the latter reportedly objected to his son exercising in the Gymkhana Ground on December 24, a police officer said.
There seemed to have been an argument between Yadav and Kanwaljit over the matter after which Kanwaljit allegedly hit Yadav, the officer said.
A case was registered against Kanwaljit Singh under Section 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) Section 506 (criminal intimidation) and Section 341 (wrongful restraint) of Indian Penal Code and investigations were on.
Kanwaljit Singh, the former Hyderabad off-spinner is a Director at the HCA's Cricket Academy at Gymkhana Ground in Secunderabad.
