A rape case has been filed against Uttarakhand Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Harak Singh Rawat on the complaint of a woman.

The case against Rawat was lodged at Safdarjung police station in South Delhi.

The victim has alleged that the former minister raped her at his Green Park residence, said a senior police officer.

Harak Singh was among the Congress leaders who had rebelled against Harish Rawat's government in Uttarakhand and had joined the BJP in May 2016 along with several party MLAs.
