A release of the union ministry of water resources said that heavy to very heavy rainfall with extremely heavy rainfall are very likely to occur in Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and Bhutan.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely in eastern Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Nepal, it said.
Due to this Brahmaputra and its tributaries in Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya, northern tributaries of Ganga in eastern Uttar Pradesh and north Bihar are likely to rise and create low to high flood and unprecedented flood at a few locations.
In Brahmaputra basin in Assam, the river is likely to flow in moderate to high to unprecedented flood levels in Kamrup, Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Golaghat, Nagaon, Morigaon, Goalpara and Dhubri districts between August 10 and August 20.
The Siang river in Upper and East Siang districts of Arunachal Pradesh as well as Dhemaji district of Assam, Lohit river in Namsai, Lohit and Anjaw districts of Arunachal Pradesh along with Tinsukia district of Assam are likely to flow in moderate to high flood situation and at unprecedented levels in a few locations from August 10 to August 13.
Kameng river in West and East districts of Arunachal Pradesh is also likely to do the same during the period, as also Ranganadi and Jia-Bharali rivers in North Lakhimpur and Sonitpur districts of Assam. Dikhow and Desang rivers in Assam's Sibsagar district are also likely to flow in moderate to high flood situation.
Dhansiri North river is, however, likely to flow in high to unprecedented flood situation in Assam's Darrang district, the Met department said.
The department said Aie, Gaurang and Champamati rivers are likely to flow in moderate to high flood levels and in unprecedented flood level in some reaches during the periodat Barpreta, Bongaigaon, Chirrang and Goalpara districts of Assam.
Sankosh river in Alipurduar district of West Bengal and Dhubri district of Assam is also likely to flow in similar levels during the same period.
