Rawat asks BJP to stop making wild allegations

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat today advised main opposition BJP to stop making wild allegations against the state government and cite specific instances to substantiate its charges.
"Ever since I have taken over, I am hearing terms like rule of the mafia, rise in corruption, collapse of law and order etc without any specific instances cited by the BJP to substantiate the charges," Rawat told reporters here.
Asking the opposition party to stop levelling unfounded allegations against the state government, he said the BJP should do so only when it has specific instances to prove them.
Rawat also hit back at the opposition for writing off his one year in office as "disappointing", saying several new beginnings were made during the period whose effects will be visible in the years to come.

"Many beginnings were made with long-term gains in mind such as the launch of the winter time char dham yatra. It was done to give the message of a safe Uttarakhand to the outside world besides boosting tourism by familiarising visitors with the lesser known but no less picturesque religious destinations in the state. Hence, expecting every effort to bear fruit in a matter of a few months is not fair," the CM added.
