Rawat doubles aid to families of home guards died on duty

Uttarakhand government today doubled the financial assitance for the family members of home guard officials died on duty.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat today announced this while addressing the Nagrik Surksha and home guards day programme organised at the Municipal Corporation here, an official release said.
The same amount from the Chief Minister's discretionary fund would be given to the families of home guard officials which they get as financial assistance at present, Rawat said.
He announced that if an honorary home guard officer or employee dies during service, his/her next of kin would be offered job as honorary home guard on compensatory basis.

The Chief Minister also announced to increase the daily duty allowance of home guards to Rs 400 from the current amount of Rs 350, it said.
He also hiked the monthly remuneration of honorary company commanders to Rs 1,500 per month from Rs 900, honorary assistant company commanders to receive Rs 1,200 now from Rs 700 and honorary Platoon commander to get Rs 1,000 from current amount of Rs 600, the release said.

Rawat also donated Rs five lakh from CM's discretionary fund to motivate the home guard officials after inspecting a ceremonial parade, it said.
Units of Nagrik Suraksha would be soon established in Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, Almora, Chamoli and Rudraprayag districts, Rawat said.

The Chief Minister asked officers to achieve the target of 25 per cent women in home guards at earliest.
He also inaugurated a newly constructed building of homeguards and Nagrik Suraksha and distributed cheques of financial aids to family members of home guards who lost their lives on duty, the release said.
Later, during his visit to Chamoli dsitrict, Chief Minister Rawat listened to the problems of people in a Janta Darbar in Gopeshwar and ordered officers concerned to resolve the issues at earliest.
He also attended a district level conference of Congress party during his Chamoli visit.
