The 27-year-old man, who was detained here last night for questioning, told police he murdered the woman, who he was to marry in a temple earlier yesterday, in a "fit of rage" after an heated argument.
The 25-year-old woman belonged to the washerman community, while the man to a higher caste.
The woman's parents had given their consent for the marriage, while the man's family was against the alliance.
The man was today produced before the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate court, which remanded him to police custody.
