Files and records related to appointment of Congress leader and former Deputy Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh late Subhash Yadav as member of University Grants Commission (UGC) are not traceable, the Ministry of Human Resource Development has said.
"Records related to appointment of Subhash Yadav as member UGC are not traceable," the Ministry said in response to an RTI query filed by Subhash Chandra Agrawal.
It was asked to give file notings, documents and file records on appointment of Yadav. The Ministry was also asked to give details on action taken against concerned ones for appointing Yadav as UGC member despite him being a member of the Congress.
RTI Activist Subhash Agrawal has also enclosed copy of media reports which said "no conflict of interest was seen when Subhash Yadav made it to UGC".
Subhash Yadav, who died in June last year, was appointed UGC member in 1992. Reports have claimed that the late Congress leader was active in politics even when he was appointed and worked as UGC member.
Noticeably, activist Yogendra Yadav was in September sacked from the UGC for being a member of Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party as the government felt his association with the apex body of higher education may give a scope for its "future politicisation".
