The IPB which met under the chairmanship of chief minister Manohar Parrikar yesterday had withdrawn permission given to 17 different projects which fall in Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ).
"We had moved the proposal before IPB to get the project of ropeway executed faster. But now since they have refused it, we will have to go through regular process to get it sanctioned," GTDC Chairman Nilesh Cabral said.
"This is a green project and hence I see no reason for it to get scuttled during the regular process. It is not an industry but a project of the state government to promote tourism," Cabral said.
The ropeway project, costing Rs 100-crore, and to be executed on the Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer basis was to connect Panaji to Reis Magos across River Mandovi.
The GTDC had also signed an agreement with a private firm Royal Rides Private Limited to implement the project.
