Newly-elected Thane MP Rajan Vichare has written to the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) to make alternate arrangements for residents in housing societies of Navi Mumbai, who have been issued eviction notices.
In a letter, Vichare, who won from the constituency in the just-concluded Lok Sabha election against NCP leader Sanjeev Naik, has asked the corporation to make alternate arrangements for residents living in the dilapidated buildings in Navi Mumbai and relocate them in houses developed by the Mumbai metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA).
The letter further stated that NMMC had issued eviction notices on Thursday to residents living in five buildings in Belapur, 30 in Nerul, 19 in Vashi, five in Turbhe, four in Kopar Khairane, six in Ghansoli, seven in Airoli and six in Digha areas and asked occupants to vacate houses immediately.
The buildings are housed by tenants as well and it would be a problem for residents, if they are not provided with any alternate housing, the letter added.
