Relatively warm day in North

The maximum temperatures in Delhi was recorded at 24.7 degree Celsius, which was two deg C above normal and the minimum was at 12.8 deg C, four deg C above normal, MeT department said.

The minimum temperatures in the plains of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh have also been hovering within or well above the normal levels for the past few days.

Chandigarh recorded a low of 10 degree Celsius, up by two notches. In Haryana, Ambala's minimum settled three notches above normal at 10 deg C while Hisar recorded a low of 9.6 deg C, also up by three deg C.

In Punjab, Amritsar registered a three degrees above normal low at 9.4 deg C. Patiala's minimum settled at 10 deg C while Ludhiana recorded an overnight temperature of 9 deg C, up by three and two degrees, respectively.

Meanwhile, the Kashmir Valley, which had received heavy snowfall yesterday, remained cut-off from the rest of the country for the second consecutive day with the key Srinagar-Jammu national highway closed for traffic.

However, in Himachal Pradesh key tourist resorts of Dalhousie, Narkanda and Sarahan received another spell of moderate snowfall while the sprawling Dhauladhar ranges had moderate to heavy snowfall, causing sharp fall in the day temperature in adjoining valley areas.

Keylong and Kalpa in tribal Lahaul and Spiti and Kinnaur district recorded night temperatures at minus 4.1 degree and minus 3.6 degree. Key tourist resort of Manali also shivered as mercury settled at minus 0.8 dgree celsius.

Shimla recorded minimum temperature at 2.5 degree, two degree below normal while Solan and Mandi recorded a low of 3.1 degree, followed by Dharamsala 5.1 degree and Bhuntar 5.5.

Rainfall also lashed some areas in the hill state.
