A little known organisation, Suyamaryade Kalai Panpattu(self-respect art and culture) Kazhagam, had announced theprogramme in Sulur on the outskirts, police said.
The programme was strongly opposed by BJP, Hindu Makkal Katchi and Kongunadu Makkal Jananayaka Katchi, stating that it would hurt the religious sentiments, particularly of women.
