"The existing expansion joints are slab seal type of joints which are now not in practice and not being manufactured by many of the approved vendors.
"Hence, due to excessive gap in adjoining slabs, the decision has been taken to replacement them with modular slab seal joints," said Arun Baroka, Secretary (PWD).
Baroka said said that the work of replacement of joints started on August 22 and initially the time period planned was 4 months (2 months on each carriageway).
Baroka said that the latest technology of rapid hardening concrete is being used in replacement of the expansion joints to save time for closure of traffic.
