Joining forces under the banner of a social body 'Daman Virodhi Sanyukt Morcha', people shut down shops and business establishments and disrupted bus and train services in the district.

The protesters blocked NH-31 and NH-82 and squatted on railway tracks on Kiul-Gaya rail section paralysing vehicular and train services in the district, the sources said.

In Nawada town, local people blocked road near Prajatantra chowk and Sadbhavna chowk and shouted slogans against the state government for poor civil amenities.

Elaborate security arrangements were made in the district as a precautionary measure, the sources said.
