Revenue official arrested for taking Rs 7,000 bribe

The Jammu and Kashmir State Vigilance Organisation (SVO) today arrested a revenue officer for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 7,000 from a person in Kishtwar district.
On the basis of a case registered by the SVO against the revenue officer, vigilance sleuths caught the accused accepting a Rs 7,000 bribe from the complainant, a spokesman said.
Farooq Ahmed Kripak, a resident of village Keshwan in Kishtwar, had lodged a complaint against Irshad Ahmed Butt, he said.
The complainant had alleged that the accused had demanded the bribe for processing Reserved Backward Area (RBA) certificates of his children, the spokesman said.
