Rhino horn seized, four apprehended by police
Press Trust of India Lakhimpur(Assam) A rhino horn was seized from four persons who were apprehended by the police in Lakhimpur district of upper Assam today, police said.
The horn is valued at Rs one lakh in the international market, the police said.
Rhino horns are used in traditional medicine.
A joint police team led by Laluk police station officer-in-charge Biren Baruah and Bongalmara police outpost in-charge Jun Pathory posed as customers and met the four following intelligence inputs from Biswanath Chariali in Biswanath district.
They then apprehended the four from Bongalmora village and seized the rhino horn, the police said.
