Cardamom prices edged up by 0.63 per cent to Rs 1,002.50 per kg in futures market today as participants built up fresh positions.
This came amid pick-up in demand in the domestic spot market against restricted supplies from producing belts.
Tight stock position on fall in arrivals from major producing regions supported the price uptrend.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in December edged higher by Rs 6.30, or 0.63 per cent, to Rs 1,002.50 per kg in a business turnover of 12 lots.
Likewise, the spice for delivery in far-month January next year gained Rs 6.40, or 0.63 per cent, to Rs 1,030 per kg in 6 lots.
Analysts said fresh positions created by traders after pick-up in demand in the spot market against restricted supplies from producing regions mainly led to rise in cardamom prices in futures trade.
