Actress Robin Wright says she pressed the makers of "House of Cards" for equal pay as co-star Kevin Spacey, for her work in the popular series.
The 50-year-old actress, who stars as Claire Underwood in the critically acclaimed Netflix show, said she ultimately won the same package, reported Entertainment Weekly.
"I was like, 'I want to be paid the same as Kevin.'," Wright said.
Similar to Spacey, who plays President Frank Underwood, the actress has appeared in all 52 episodes of "House of Cards."
She has also directed several episodes and joined Spacey as an executive producer on the most recent season.
Wright praised the series for featuring such a prominent female character.
"There are very few films or TV shows where the male, the patriarch, and the matriarch are equal. And they are in 'House of Cards'.
"Claire Underwood's character was more popular than (Frank's) for a period of time. So I capitalized on it. I was like, 'You better pay me or I'm going to go public' And they did'," she said.
Wright is the latest high-profile actor to speak out about the problematic gender pay gap in Hollywood, joining Patricia Arquette, Jennifer Lawrence, Meryl Streep, and others.
