The robbers posing as cops had abducted the employees of the businessman based in Jharkhand and looted cash amount of Rs 1.25 crore, on September 8 evening.
After the loot, the three employees of the businessman contacted the police and an FIR was registered at Kamla Market police station, said Parmaditya, DCP of Central Delhi.
During investigation, police thoroughly examined CCTV camera footage of the New Delhi railway station parking where the employees of the businessman had boarded the vehicle of their employer. Employees were also grilled and it emerged that money was regularly transferred by the businessman from Ranchi to Delhi, he said.
Information provided by him led to arrest of other accused Naresh Kumar Sharma, Beant Singh, Sandeep Kumar, Ashok, Shraddha and Sudesh by a police team, the officer said.
Further interrogation led to recovery of Rs 1.24 cash, a country made pistol, one revolver, wireless set, police uniform and the vehicles used by the accused in the robbery. The vehicle of the businessman was also recovered, he said.
One of the employee of the businessman, Prabhay Mehto had reached Delhi by train carrying the cash on afternoon of September 8. He met two other employees at parking of the railway station and they boarded a vehicle driven by Sunil Purti, for delivering the money.
Sunil told the police that he knew about the transfer of large amounts and had planned the robbery sharing his information with a friend Shraddha. Later, the other accused joined in the plan.
The gang had assembled at New Delhi railway station on the day of incident. They had started chasing the vehicle of the businessman as soon as it left the parking lot. Later, Beant Singh who was in police uniform stopped the vehicle.
