A central finance assistance of Rs 12.30 crore for various tourism development projects in northeast was given by Tourism Ministry with an aim to boost tourism infrastructure in the region, a senior Tourism Ministry official said.
The ministry has sanctioned Rs 89.10 lakh for development of tourist infrastructure at Buranilkantha in West Sikkim.
Buranilkantha is a beautiful river side location en route Geyzing and Renchenpong. The project involves development of amenity block, construction of eco-friendly walkways and landscaping and beautification, the official said.
The ministry has also granted Rs 160 lakh for displaying signages and hoardings to showcase and propagate tourism potential of Sikkim at various places like railway stations, bus stops and hotels, the official said.
