"RuPaul's Drag Race" won its maiden Outstanding Reality Competition trophy at the 70th annual Emmy awards.
The long-running competition show is no stranger to the Emmys, with RuPaul winning his third consecutive Emmy for Outstanding Reality Host, but it is the series' first win in the Outstanding Reality-Competition Series category.
"RuPaul's Drag Race" beat out "American Ninja Warrior", "Project Runway", "The Amazing Race", "The Voice", and "Top Chef" in the category.
Since the Television Academy added the Outstanding Reality-Competition Series category to the Emmy Awards in 2003, only three shows have ever managed to actually win it, "The Amazing Race" (with 10 wins), "The Voice" (with four) and "Top Chef" (with one).
"Thank you to the Academy. This is so lovely. We are so happy to present this show. I would like to thank, on behalf of the 140 drag queens we have released into the wild, I'd love to thank Dick Richards for introducing me to Randy Barbato and Fenton Bailey," RuPaul said, acknowledging his partners at World of Wonder, who have produced the series.
"If you can't love yourself, how in the hell are you going to love somebody else? Can I get an amen up in here? Now let the music play!" he added.
With "Drag Race" and RuPaul both winning, the show has also made history by becoming the first reality series to take home both the top awards in the category.
