Rudranath temple reopens for devotees

The gates of the famous Rudranath temple, one of the Panch Kedar shrines in the Garhwal Himalayas, were thrown open for devotees today after its winter closure.
The ritual of reopening of gates of the cave shrine was performed by its priest Prayagdutt Bhatt in presence of a large number of devotees who thronged the temple located over 11,000 feet above the sea level.
Rudranath temple in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is among the Panch Kedar shrines located in the Himalayas, the other four being Kedarnath, Tungnath, Madhyamaheshwar and Kalpeshwar.
