The doors of of the famous cave shrine will be reopened on the morning of May 18, priest of Gopinath temple in Gopeshwar, where lord Shiva is worshipped during winter, said.
Located at a height of around 10,500 feet in Chamoli district the Shiva temple draws lakhs of pilgrims from across the country and abroad every year.
People undertake an 18-km trek to reach the shrine where lord Shiva is worshipped in his 'Ekanan' form.
The temple is closed every year during winter due to snowbound conditions and the Lord is taken to the Gopinath temple in a traditional carriage (doli) for his winter stay.
