Rural pockets to be developed on modern lines: Deputy CM

Jammu and Kashmir government has made several efforts to develop the rural and far flung areas on modern lines, Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand said today.
The state government has a focused attention on developing core areas of health, road, power,water supply and education in the rural pockets, he said.
Underlining measures taken to ensure timely delivery of services, he said the government is committed to make administration more accountable.
Chand said panchayati raj bodies have been empowered by the government and functions of over fourteen departments have been entrusted to them so as to involve people in planning as well as execution.
He directed the Power Development Department authorities to ensure metering in the area so that people pay as per consumption.
