RUSU President arrested over celebratory firing

The newly-elected president of Rajasthan University Students' Union Ankit Dhayal was today arrested after a video purportedly showing him firing in the air as part of his victory celebrations at his village in Jhunjhunu district went viral, police said.
Dhayal had gone to his village in chidawa of Jhunjhunu district where he was welcomed by locals and his supporters after his election.
During celebrations, he allegedly fired in the air by a firearm on September 12, police said.
The video of his firing in air went viral on WhatsApp and the Jhunjhunu police took cognisance today, following which he was arrested.

"He was arrested under section 151 of CrPC (Arrest to prevent the commission of cognizable offences)," police said.
