SAD-BJP govt committed to revamp education system: Badal

Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today said that the SAD-BJP alliance government is committed to revamp the education system of the state.
He said that the state government has given due attention on development of education sector in the state.
"This can be gauged from the fact that Punjab has now jumped to the 1st position among big states, from 14th position in 2012-13," Badal said at a private college here, an official release said.
The Chief Minister further said that the state government was already working in the direction of complete overhaul of the Primary, Secondary and Higher education along with the Technical education in the state.

"The government is aware about the need of quality education in today's competitive age when owing to the modern techniques of communication whole of the world has become a global village. Keeping in view the need to impart quality and modern education to the students of the state the state government has kept the education sector on its top priority," he said.
In order help the economically weak students, Dr Hargobind Khurana scholarship scheme has been launched for meritorious students.

Six Residential schools have been established at Mohali, Bathinda, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Amritsar and Patiala to provide free and quality education to meritorious students scoring 80 per cent in Class tenth.

He said that in a bid to provide world class higher education to youth, two new universities would be opened.
He said that for training skilled manpower, skill development centres would be opened in the state.
