Sports Authority of India (SAI) today signed a MoU with city-based Sri Ramachandra University, recognising its Sports Science and Arthroscopy Centre (SRASSC) as a centre of excellence.
Director General of SAI, Jiji Thomson and SRU Vice Chancellor JSN Murthy inked the pack in the presence of Union Minister of State for Skill Development, Entrepreneurship, Youth Affairs and Sports, Sarbananda Sonowal, and SRU Chancellor VR Venkataachalam.
Sonowal said it will be a 'role model' for public private partnership to promote sports and youth development in the country.
According to the agreement, SRU will provide scientific testing and high performance training programmes to the 'elite sports persons sponsored by SAI,' the varsity said in a release here.
Further, it will offer physical, physiological, biokinetic and sports efficiency characterisation services with its state of the art diagnostic and testing laboratories for the potential sports persons referred by SAI to help identify and groom future sports talent, it said.
