A circular issued by the office of District and Sessions Judge (South district) has declared Saket Courts Complex in South Delhi as tobacco-free in compliance of Tobacco Control Legislation under Tobacco free Delhi initiative.
The court authorities have also appointed four nodal officers to spread awareness about tobacco and promote 'No Tobacco Use', it said.
"All concerned visiting the Saket Courts complex are hereby informed that District Court complex Saket has been declared 'tobacco free zone' in compliance of Tobacco Control Legislation under Tobacco free Delhi initiative.
The Delhi government has already banned sale, purchase and storage of chewable tobacco products, but was not able to implement it because of court cases filed by some tobacco manufacturers which are still pending.
