Sampla expels BJP rebel leader from Mukerian

Punjab BJP president Vijay Sampla today expelled rebel candidate Jangi Lal Mahajan of Mukerian from the party for six years.
A party release said here that Mahajan, who is in the fray as an independent, was expelled for contesting election against BJP's Mukerian candidate Arunesh Shakar.
Notably, BJP is contesting 23 of the 117 assembly seats in Punjab, which goes to polls on February 4, while the remaining seats are being contested by its ally the SAD.
