Das, a trainee of Goodricke National Chess Academy run by Alekhine Chess Club here, beat two GMs and drew with another two highly-rated GMs in the 22nd Open International ciutat de Montcada held in Barcelona.
His ELO rating performance was 2613. He gained 46 ELO points from the tournament, a release said today.
Another student of the academy, Diptayan Ghosh finished sixth in the tournament.
Both the players are scheduled to take part in three more international tournaments in Spain and are expected to earn the required two more norms to become Grandmasters.
