SDO, clerk caught while accepting Rs 2.25 lakh bribe

A sub-divisional officer and a clerk with revenue department were today caught while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 2.25 lakh from a complainant, ACB said.
SDO Sandeep Gulabrao Patil and clerk Gyaneshwar Shantaram Bagade had allegedly demanded Rs 2.75 lakh from the complainant for registering a portion of his two hectares of agricultural land as non-agricultural one in official records, a release issued by the Anti-Corruption Bureau said.
Later the deal was settled for Rs 2.25 lakh, including Rs 1.5 lakh for the SDO and Rs 75,000 for the clerk.
In the meantime, the complainant approached the ACB which laid a trap and caught the duo at their office today while they were accepting the bribe, the ACB added.
