Accordingly, 11 buildings, including six in corporation limits and under construction, coming under five zones, were sealed, after a meeting of high-level committee, chaired by the Distict Collector, M Karunaragan, official sources said.
The meeting also decided to seal 201 buildings, which were identified as unsafe and not complying with construction rules.
Fiftyfive buildings in the city limits had already been served notices some months ago, but building owners failed to take any preventive measures, sources said.
Action against the 146 buildings was likely, which were coming under Local Planning Authority, after receiving recommendations from it, the sources said.
Four women were killed and seven persons injured in the fire that broke out on the third floor of a four-storeyed commercial complex here on Thursday.
