Daulat Ram, a retired armed force personnel, told police he saw seven men in a mango garden when he was returning home last night.
Acting on the information, a police team led by Punjab DIG (Border Range) Kunwar Vijay Partap Singh combed the area throughly "but did not find any suspect", SSP Gurdaspur Jagdip Singh Hundal said.
About 70 policemen and two teams of Quick Reaction Team were deployed to trace the suspects, he said.
