The merger process of the Forward Markets Commission (FMC) with Sebi will be completed by September this year, said U K Sinha, chairman of the capital market regulator.

"The merger process between Sebi and FMC will be completed by September this year," Sinha said at a seminar organised by Bharat Chamber of Commerce here today.

He said that worldwide, there is "hardly any instance" that two regulatory bodies are being merged like the one here.

After the completion of the merger, Sebi would work on commodity derivatives, he added.
