The State Election Commission today asked Odisha Finance Minister Prasanna Acharya to give his views on the content of CD where he allegedly made "stop funding" remark while campaigning for the ruling BJD candidates in the recently concluded urban polls.
"We are sending CDs to the Finance Minister and the District Collector of Bargarh to give their views on the content recorded there," SEC Ajit Kumar Tripathy told reporters here a day after Acharya informed the SEC that he had not violated Model Code of Conduct.
While responding to the November 23 show cause notice of the SEC, Acharya had yesterday claimed that he had not violated the model code of conduct.
During the campaigning for BJD candidate in Ward 19 of Bargarh civic body, Acharya had allegedly said that he as the finance minister would stop releasing funds for development of the town if they (people) did not vote for the ruling party.
Acharya's alleged 'stop funding remark' created a controversy with opposition Congress demanding his removal from the council of ministers.
A delegation of Congress met the Governor over Finance minister's alleged 'stop funding remark' and sought his intervention.
