Second phase of CAPF u-19 football championship from May 17

The second phase of the CAPF youth under-19 football talent hunt championship for boys and girls will be held at Mega Sports complex, Hotwar in Ranchi from May 17 to 22.
The curtain raiser ceremony of the five-day event, to be conducted under the supervision of CRPF's Jharkhand Sector, was held here today in the presence of Chief Guest Amitabh Choudhary, Acting secretary of BCCI, and the brand ambassador of the championship International Hockey player Sumrai Tete.
One team each from both the section from six states-Bihar, Chattisgarh, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal and Jharkhand- --of Central Zone will vie for top honour during the meet.
The first phase of the championship, which was to be organised in three phases, had been conducted in different states and union territories from May 1 to 15.
In his welcome address, Inspector General (CRPF) Sanjay Anand Latekar said the boys and girls' teams have been divided into two groups and would play in league format.
The winning team would be honoured with P K Banerjee Trophy and Rs 1 lakh cash prize, Latekar said adding that the 1st and 2nd runners up would get Rs 60,000 and Rs 40,000 respectively, besides a trophy.
Addressing the gathering, Choudhary said the championship would give an opportunity for the budding footballers to exhibit their talent and mettle to earn accolades for the state and country at international arena.
