"Directives to this effect have been issued to respective district magistates, police chiefs besides commissioners and zonal IGs, intelligence units and other senior officials," Secretary Home S K Raghuvanshi said.
"It has been clearly stated that any laxity on this count will not be tolerated and intelligence units have also been asked to remain fully alert," he added.
Police officers have been told to make proper security arrangements at all the sensitive places, including those of religious and historical importance, crowded places like markets and shopping complexes besides schools and colleges, Raghuvanshi said.
They have also been told to take preemptive measures to ward of any trouble in their areas if required, specially for maintaining communal peace and harmony, the officer said.
