Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP), K Rajendra Kumar, today reviewed the security arrangements put in place for the fourth phase of assembly polls in the state.
He said elaborate security arrangements have been made for the security of voters and polling booths.
Kumar, while chairing the high level meetings at Jammu and Srinagar today, sought reports from the officers of police and other security agencies with regard to security and deployment arrangements made in their respective areas.
He stressed upon the officers to implement the action plan already framed strictly for the security of polling booths and the voters.
He said keeping in view the sensitiveness of the areas, required preventive measures should be taken to maintain law and order around the polling booths. Security of the voters should be focussed on priority, he added.
During the meetings, the DGP was apprised by the officers about the deployment of forces to ensure peaceful polling in all eighteen constituencies going for polls.
He said that maintenance of law and order should be focussed on priority during polls, so that people could participate in the democratic process in a congenial atmosphere.
The DGP stressed upon the officers to maintain close co-ordination within their ranks and other agencies to deal with any emergent situation in their respective areas. He appreciated the officers for ensuring smooth and peaceful conduct of elections in the state.
He said that some hypersensitive constituencies, which are going polls in fourth phase, the security agencies have to undertake constant surveillance in these areas to foil any subversive act. Naka checking and night patrolling in these areas should be undertaken jointly by the police and para-military forces to ensure peaceful polling.
