The group of 40 persons were stopped by Seema Suraksha Bal (SSB) and local police for checking yesterday when they failed to produce valid documents about their identity.
All of them told police that they belonged to Jammu and Kashmir and were coming from Kathmandu, sources said.
The local police is verifying their credentials.
Prima facie nothing objectionable has been found against them, Maharajganj Superintendent of Police Lakshmi Narayan said.
"If they produce documents, we will allow them entry into India otherwise they will be sent back to Nepal", Narayan said. PTI ABN PG KAS
