Security guard murdered for opposing illegal fishing in Powai

A 50-year-old private security personnel was murdered last night, when he tried to prevent a youth from fishing illegally in Powai lake here, the police said today.
The deceased is identified as Sohaib Khan.
According to a senior police official, Sohaib and two of his colleagues, who had been assigned the task to keep a vigil in night, spotted the youth in a small boat carrying a fishing net.
They tried to stop him from fishing and cut his fishing net.
In a fit of rage, the youth, later identified as Tabrez Khan, allegedly stabbed Sohaib to death and pushed him in the lake. Two other security personnel accompanying Sohaib fled the spot.

Sohaib's body was fished out at 12 noon today and sent for postmortem.
Tabrez has been arrested and booked for murder, the official said, adding that further investigation is underway.
