At around 9 am, Badal Sur (52), a police Havildar on security duty in the official residence of the minister shot himself from his service revolver. He was taken to G B Pant hospital here and succumbed to his injuries in the afternoon, SP (West Tripura), Abhijit Saptarshi told reporters.
Sur had lost his wife one year ago and was in a state of severe depression. He is survived by his son, the police said.
Chakraborty, condoled the death of Sur and described him as an 'obedient and dutiful employee'.
